Specialty Auto Program Details:

  • Coverage Available:
    • Primary auto liability ($1M CSL) on a guaranteed cost basis
    • Ability to package auto physical damage
    • Ability to include endorsements to satisfy most shipper requirements
  • Paper: Admitted, A.M. Best rated A- (Excellent)
  • States Covered: All except AK, CA, HI, MA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, WA
  • Minimums: 5+ power units and 2+ years in business
  • Fleet Size: Up to 75 power units (sweet spot 10 - 35 units)
  • Within Appetite: Average quality risks—we’re not price competitors with preferred markets
  • Radius: Interstate or intrastate predominantly within 500 miles
  • Out of Appetite: New ventures, mid-term moves (outside a hard cancellation or an A.M. Best rating downgrade of the current insurer), general freight long-haul, moving and storage, last-mile/courier delivery, drive-away, public auto, towing, garbage, ready-mix, logging, bulk fuel, sand and gravel, coal
  • Submission Requirements: Auto application, vehicle schedule (Excel format), driver schedule, MVRs, loss runs (5 years), IFTAs (if FMCSA filing is required)
  • Target Risks: Transportation operations described as specialists. Examples include:
    • Fleets comprised of a mixture of commercial truck sizes/types to service unique shipper demands
    • Grain/mulch/wood chips/sod, construction debris, oilfield and irrigation equipment
    • Recyclable materials, including scrap metals and junk/salvage cars
    • Heavy machinery/oversized equipment (with or without escort vehicles)
    • Mobile home toters, hotshots hauling autos, boats, flatbed items, etc.
    • Livestock and animal by-products (e.g., chicken gut haulers)
    • Pneumatic tankers (e.g., fly ash), pump and vacuum trucks
    • Intermodal (UIIA), cannabis (medical or recreational) or tobacco-related products
